Participants

Youth participation and engagement into the civic life should be enhanced. Participation in the democratic life of any community is to have the right, the means, the space, the opportunity and the support to participate in the decisionmaking process of the society and the opportunity to engage with peers in activities that contribute to creating a better society. Sometimes this opportunity is not given or sometimes this opportunity is not chosen by people. Through local events organised by each organisation and an international workshop, 6 young people of second generation with non-EU migration background respecting gender equality, will be selected with the aim of creating a strong contact with policy makers instructing the selected young people to become Youth Ambassadors for active citizens of second generation with the aim of replicate the impact at local level. At the same time it will be created a wide network of organisation that will support the Youth Ambassadors supplying tools to be active citizens for second generation. Second generation youth will be involved in specific awareness raising and training activities about being active European citizens of second generation and a meeting with policy makers to the aim of having an impact of policies of the new European Commission in charge from 2019.

In this section of the website you can find the infos about the PARTICIPANTS to THE INTERNATIONAL EVENT and the AMBASSADORS.

My name is Jenny Daniela Bautista, I’m 20 years old, I was born in Rome. My family is Filipino. My origins are for me a source of great curiosity, although unfortunately I have  lived in the Philippines only when I was a child. Although I was raised here in Italy, I feel more Filipino than Italian because, since I was a child I grew up in a Filipino environment (traditions and habits). I am a very shy girl, selfless and always willing to share my things and if someone has a problem I’m always the first to do something to help them. I’m a simple girl and I don’t like being the center of attention.I love to travel and get to know new cities that I love so much that I am sad to see them.and leave them and go home.Over the years I have had experiences of work including babysitting, which I still do.Sometimes I help my parents with their work, cleaning an office and sometimes even houses.During my free time I like to go out with my friends to listen to music and sometimes even sing.I am in my final year of high school and afterwards I would like to continue my studies at university and afterwards I would like to continue studying abroad, London, and then find a job in the future.

Italy is my home, but I am very proud of my origins. Now I study in a tourist institute and I am very grateful for all the experiences that it makes us live. The RAYSE project offers this incredible opportunity to second-generation children like me and I think it is important to make it clear that we are European citizens too and we can contribute significantly for the future.

Nada Ladraa Kit

Nada is a 20 years old Italian Moroccan who has always wondered why her identity wasn’t as free as the ones her Italian friends seemed to have. Through travelling, international environments, personal and shared reflection she has been thinking and rethinking ways to understand the issue. So far, the answer she has found lies in freeing herself from all the structural racism that exists in a post-colonial world that hasn’t rethought its colonisation. Through this project, I want the EU to become more aware of its citizens with a multicultural background, encouraging them not to wear “white masks on a black” as Frants Fanon would have said, but by giving them the tools to embrace their identity to make Europe the truly cosmopolitan continent that it should be.
